URBAN DECAY - UDXGWEN LIPSTICKS

The addiction is real. My love for Gwen Stefani has been rekindled these past few months with the release of her limited edition collection, made in collaboration with Urban Decay Cosmetics. You go Gweny, Gwen-Gwen!

I've always loved Gwen, so it was no surprise that when I saw Urban Decay was releasing a limited edition Gwen-inspired collection that I knew I would have to have it.

Thank god indeed!

A few months down the line, and I finally have as much of the UDXGWEN as I could get my grubby little hands on.

Today we'll be taking a look at the UDXGWEN lipsticks.

'A limited edition stylish case inspired by Gwen's love of black and white graphical prints and antique gold accents'.

Packaging

Like the rest of the collection, the cardboard packing is divine and has that beautiful white and gold 1920's art deco vibe with lipstick colours identified at the base of the packaging.

The lipstick tube packaging is similar to the cardboard packaging, however features a gold and black print.

The packaging on these lipsticks is brilliant, and has an Art Deco feel. Even if Gwen hadn't been the genius behind these beauties, I probably would have still have bought a couple just for the cute packaging.

'Get Gwen's must-have lip colours with this line of eight sheer to extreme matte lipsticks'.

Shades & Finishes

The shades made available to us here in Australia include: Ex-Girlfriend, 714, Wonderland, Spiderweb, Rock Steady & Firebird.

The majority of the lipsticks in this collection are some shade of red with a range of sheens and cremes. Meh. Don't get me wrong, I love a good red lipstick but I felt that with this collection I did not need to buy all six lipsticks due to the redness overload. Let's not forget, Black Moon Cosmetics are still my go to for an amazing long-lasting red lip.

Anyway, back onto Gwen. Ex-Girlfriend is the stand out in this collection, and has been described as 'your lip colour, but better! Ex-Girlfriend, tentatively named after the No Doubt hit, is a nude-sheen lipstick that really does make my lips look 100% better. Unfortunately Ex-Girlfriend is currently sold out on both the Urban Decay and Mecca sites. These lipsticks are limited edition, so it does pay to get in quick. And by 'get in quick', I mean wake up at 6am on launch day and place your order so you don't miss out.

'Designed with Urban Decay's Pigmented Infusion System, the super creamy formula glides onto lips with incredible colour pay off'.

Formula & Pigmentation

I'm in love with the formula. It's so smooth and creamy, and applies well.

However like a regular lipstick, it does have its flaws. The darker colours do bleed without liner applied and will require touch ups throughout the day. It is not drink and food proof. And it is definitely not make-out proof. Sorry boyfriend!

On a positive note, the pigmentation is wonderful. Wonderland is that perfect combination of pink and red that compliments all skin tones. Wonderland and Ex-Girlfriend are both as must as far as I'm concerned.

Affordability & Retailers

This collection is limited edition so get in quick and snap up your purchases from mecca.com.au.

Lipsticks retail at $29.00 AUD, while the liners retail for around $35.00 AUD. I didn't end up purchasing any of the lip liners due to the absurd price tag attached to them. I'm sorry Urban Decay, but I'm not paying more for a lip liner than I do the lipstick.

Final Verdict

If these lipsticks to were become a permanent product I would definitely re-purchase my favourites over and over again.
