MARC JACOBS - LIMITED EDITION LE MARC LIP CREME BAD BEHAVIOUR

Continuing on with our Christmad countdown, let me introduce to you this beautiful limited edition lipstick from the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme range.

Bad Behaviour is a beautiful burgundy shade that instantly caught my eye. Previous to this, I had never tried any of the Le Marc Lip Cremes, so I was interested to see how this one would perform, and I'm glad to tell you that it did perform well.

Packaging

Bad Behaviour comes in sleek black and white cardboard packaging, which to my knowledge is strictly just for the limited edition shades, with the name of the shade printed on the lid of the packaging.

The lipstick casing is a beautiful gold  colour and is surprisingly rectangular, differing from conventional cylinder cases, which I really like. The lid clicks into place with the tube, secured by the round clasp. The lid also features the Marc Jacobs label which is raised and a nice touch to the overall look of the packaging.

Shade & Texture

Bad Behaviour is described as a being a deep burgundy-red shade.

I found this shade a little overwhelming on my NW10 skin, so I chose to dab it onto my lips which is the result that you can see in the swatch.

Bad behaviour applied very smoothly and evenly, and gave my lips full coverage. The pigmentation with this lipstick was brilliant and everything that it should be for $43.00.

Final Verdict

Although I was initially afraid of this this lipstick due to the intensity of its colour, I actually really like it. This was my first purchase from the Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme range and I'm impressed with the longevity and pigmentation of this product. 

Even if Bad Behaviour is a colour that's too dark for you, I recommend that you check out the rest of the Lip Creme range and find a colour to try out because this formula is brilliant.

Lip Treatment Products

Lip Balm

Balms are a must have for every girl! They are used for treating the cracked and dry skin your lips experience and maintaining smooth, healthy lips. Most balms have SPF coverage, with some brands having extra goodies such as shea butter and vitamin E to help soften lips.

Balms can appear either matte or shine, and can offer no colour to sheer colour depending on your preferences.

Lip Butter

Lip butters are similar to lip balms in the sense that their primary purpose is to hydrate the lips. Unlike balms, butters contain natural organic oils which provide lips with more moisture however they do feel slightly heavier. 

Lip Butters come in a range of colours, often having a sheen finish.

Lip Preparation Products

Lip Primer

Primers are used to allow beauties to get the most out of their lip products and prolonging longevity. 

Lip Primers, much like skin primers, act by moisturising, smoothing and preparing lips for colour and assist to prevent your lipstick colour from bleeding, flaking, or fading throughout the day.

Lip Liner

Lip Liners are often used to outline and/or fill-in the lips to help lipstick stay in place and avoid it moving. Liners act as a barrier which works to prevent lipstick from moving onto the skin surrounding the lips; this is also known as bleeding.

Liners offer full colour coverage and come in a variety of colours often matching your favourite lipstick shades. They also often have a life span longer than its companion, the humble lipstick.

Lip Plumping

Plumpers are used to get fuller looking lips by enlarging your natural lips for a short time period. Plumpers are often applied like a gloss and have a unique tingling sensation when it's working it's magic. If you're looking for bigger, fuller lips without the commitment of fillers then plumpers are worth trying out.

Minimalist Products

Lip Stain

Stains are great for babes on the go as they offer all day colour with no upkeep throughout the day, Lip Stains often come in liquid form, however some lipsticks also offer stain, and can last up to twelve hours once applied. Stains dry matte and require a skilled hand for application. 

Unfortunately, if you have dry or chapped lips then a lip stain will not be your friend. Stains highlight every nook and crany, so avoid them if you're lips needs some TLC.

Lip Crayon

Crayons are our holy grail, offering colour, hydration and longevity. Lip Crayons are literally oversized crayons for your lips, with the best part being that they don't require any sharpening due to their twist bottoms. 

Crayons offer amazing pigmentation and a variety of finishes, such as matte, sheer, satin, gloss and balm. Lip Crayons are very lightweight and are a natural looking alternative to lipsticks.

Glamour Products

Lip Gloss

Lip Glosses take me straight back to the early 2000's and my memories of wearing awful sticky lipglosses during my awkward teenage phase.

Glosses are often moisturising and stay moist the entire time they are worn. And as the name implies, they are glossy af. Thankfully, glosses are very versatile and offer full-colour, sheer colour, no colour, glitter and SPF protection.

Word of warning: avoid sticky glosses. You'll find that your hair will become stuck to your lips constantly. And touch-ups throughout the day will be necessary as glosses offer short-lived colour as they wear off easily.

Lipstick

I am a firm believer that a girl can never own too many lipsticks. Ever. And how could you ever own too many when there is an astounding variety of colours and finishes? Lipsticks come in a range of finishes such as matte, gloss, full colour, lustre, satin, and glaze just to name a few. Your finish will also determine the coverage of the lipstick. A matte lipstick will be full coverage compared to a lustre which will be sheer.

Every girl knows exactly what a lipstick looks like, however not every girl feels confident enough to apply and wear them. Personally, I've found that different finishes apply and wear differently to one another. So if you're one of these girls, head down to your local cosmetic store and try out a range of finishes to see which one you're most comfortable with.

Lipsticks do come with some maintenance, and often need to be reapplied after food and drink. For darker colours, you may also need to prime and line to prevent the lipstick from moving and smudging.

Liquid Lipstick

This is probably my, and every other girls, favourite type of lipstick. Liquid lipstick applies as a liquid, however dries matte and becomes so long lasting that makeup removers are essential for removal. How long do they last? Well that depends on the brand and quality of the product that you're using.

Liquid Lipsticks offer full, solid colour and are great for pulling off bold looks. Avoid any kind of oily foods though if you want your your look to last all day, as oil is amazing at removing liquid lipstick from your lips. Another downside to Liquid Lipsticks is that they are very, very drying on the lips which requires regular exfoliation of your lips and switching to another type of lip product every few days to give your lips a well deserved break.

YOUNIQUE - MOONSTRUCK OPULENCE LIPSTICK

Stinkin' Rich. That's what you need to be in order to own all of the wonderful make-up that your heart desires. Or that's at least the case in my situation. Recent bills and expenditures have lead me off  the path of being stinkin' rich at this point in time, but luckily for me I was gifted with a Moonstruck Opulence Lipstick from my fabulous Younique supplier, Kirsty.

I had recently been asked by Kirsty to trial the Younique range and leave honest reviews for potential buyers. In a nut shell, I get to spend my weekends testing out new make-up and then blogging about whether the product is worth your time or now. Hashtag dream job.

So this week in the mail I received the Moonstruck Opulence Lipstick in Stinkin' Rich.

Packaging

What I love about this packaging is the fine detail on the neck of the lipstick tube once the lid has been taken off. Younique has done really well in keeping their packaging cohesive across their entire range of beauty products. What an effort! Hats doff to you, Younique! I also like the matte v shine elements in the packaging. The matte tube allows for a much better grip than traditional shine packaging.

Unfortunately what I didn't like about the packaging was that it was that the tube square rather than round, but that just comes down to personal preference. 

Packaging and lipstick

Shades & Textures

This particular lipstick applies really nicely, with even coverage. And if red isn't your colour, fear not! Younique also offer an additional fourteen shades in the Moonstruck Opulence range.

Formula & Pigmentation

Stinkin' rich is opaque, as the name suggests, however can be built up to create more depth of colour if required as seen below. This lippie has amazing pigmentation and looks stunning when applied.

I promised my Younique supplier Kirsty that I would give her products an absolutely honest review, and with a red lipstick I can do nothing but be totally honest. Red lipstick can be very unforgiving at times. So I took a few days to apply this lipstick in different ways to see  which would offer the best results.


SATURDAY MORNING: I used my Moonstruck Precision Pencil in Posh which is a bright pink. Now I would have used a red lip liner, however I wanted to be faithful to the brand and use their range of lip liners (which are amazing by the way) however I haven't gotten around to picking up their red lip liner which is why I went with the pink. I lined my lips and filled them with the Posh, and then went over my lips twice for maximum colour with my Moonstruck Opulence Lipstick. I then blotted my lips and went around the outside of my lips with a concealer.

One coffee and a donut for lunch and  I still have full lipstick coverage but the lipstick is beginning to bleed from my bottom lip and the corners of my mouth. The product still has a nice feel to it with no issues around dryness.

SUNDAY MORNING: I again use my Moonstruck  Precision Pencil in Posh. I lined and filled in my lips with Posh before applying my Moonstruck Opulence Lipstick. Today I only give myself a light, sheer coat of lipstick. I blot, then apply a thin piece of tissue to my lips and dust over it with finishing powder using a large fluffy brush.

The lipstick was not food or drink proof however there wasn't as much bleeding as I had experienced on Saturday. It still felt really nice on my lips and  required touch-ups throughout the day, as opposed to re-application.

MONDAY MORNING: Today I only used my Moonstruck Opulence Lipstick to apply a sheer coat, blotted. and then line my lips with concealer. Again, the lipstick was not food or drink proof (my poor coffee cup) but it did still manage to have pretty good coverage and only found myself touching up rather than re-applying.

Affordability & Retailers. 

Bleeding aside, and let me assure you that the bleeding is minimal , this lipstick has amazing colour pay off and feels silky smooth on my lips. Bonus, the Moonstruck Opulence Lipsticks are currently on sale for $19.00! Cheaper than a Revlon or L'Oreal lipstick!

Final Verdict

This is a red that I would use again, however if I'm going to be eating or drinking then I'd probably give this lipstick a pass. My Black Moon Cosmetics red lippy still comes in at #1, however the Moonstruck Opulence Lipstick does make it into my top 5 red lipsticks.

Give this range of lipsticks a go regardless. I think this formula would be amazing in pinks and browns where bleeding is not as evident.
